July 25 - 'Party Girl' Take PASS

The Adios eliminations card at The Meadows on Saturday (July 25) also featured a pair of stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies—a $188,682 Pennsylvania Sires Stake (PASS) and a $100,000 PA Stallion Series event. There was action aplenty, as a stake record was matched and a Dan Patch Award winner got off the 2020 schneid. Party Girl Hill did not race at two, but she has started her sophomore campaign with a flourish—four victories without a loss, including a 1:49.1 win in the other PASS split for Dexter Dunn. July 21 - Insured Am S - 1st in $48,866 NYSS division for two-year-old trotting fillies at Yonkers

Insured Am S (Hunterton sold) was another winning daughter of Chapter Seven, prevailing by one length in 1:59.2. Brian Sears was the winning driver for trainer Marcus Melander and owner Courant Inc.

 

July 21 - St Martins - 1st in Qualifiers at HARRAH'S PHILADELPHIA

St Martins (Hunterton born, raised and sold) finished first in the Qualifiers at HARRAH'S PHILADELPHIA in 1:56.4. Congratulations to owners Harbor Racing Stable Llc, Aurora, ON, Lucas Wallin, New Egypt, Deo Volente Farms Llc, Flemington, NJ, trainer Lucas Wallin and driver Marcus Schoen.

 

July 20 - Sunny Crockett wins PASS 2 Year Old Colts & Geldings at The Meadows

Sunny Crockett (Hunterton sold), a Father Patrick-Moonlight In Miami offspring who was driven by Andy Miller wins the PASS 2 year old colts and geldings div. at The Meadows timed at 1:57.2. Congratulations to owner Willow Oak Ranch and trainer Julie Miller.

 

July 19 - Ineffable wins Pennsylvania All-Stars 2 Year Old Fillies 3rd Div. in 1:56!

The Hunteron raised and sold $600,000 yearling Ineffable (by Cantab Hall out of the 1:52.1 world champion Jolene Jolene) recorded his first victory in the fastest of the four $30,000 All-Stars divisions, making two moves to control the pace then fighting off the stretch threat Flawless Country by a nose in 1:56. Brian Sears, top driver on the card with three victories, drove the chancy filly for the Melander Machine and owners Menhammar Stuteri AB and the S R F Stable.

July 18 - Tall Dark Stranger Scores In Meadowlands Pace

Challenged late by Papi Rob Hanover, Tall Dark Stranger (Hunterton born, raised and sold) emerged victorious as the 1-2 favourite in the $636,650 Meadowlands Pace Final on Saturday (July 18). Captain Kirk swept from post 10 to take the lead from stablemate Captain Barbossa midway around the first turn. Driver Yannick Gingras then sent Tall Dark Stranger for the lead approaching a :25.4 first quarter and cleared command into the backstretch. Past the half in :53.2, Tall Dark Stranger soon braced for a first-over challenge from Papi Rob Hanover entering the final turn. The pair matched strides past three-quarters in 1:20.4 while Allywag Hanover stalked second over. July 17 - 'Athens', 'Narina' Win In Buckeye Series

Odds On Athens (Hunterton sold) picked up their second wins of the Buckeye Stallion Series (BSS) in the third leg of the Three-Year-Old Filly Pace held Friday (July 17) at Eldorado Scioto Downs. Four divisions were contested with each division carrying a purse of $17,500. Odds On Athens made it back-to-back wins as she went 1:53.4 with Ronnie Wrenn Jr. for Melanie Wrenn and owner Odds On Racing. The filly by Pet Rock out of Southern Magnolia got a pocket trip from post 8 and won by three-quarter lengths. The winner paid $2.80 after defeating Corner Pocket and Dan Noble while Arya Again with Chris Page finishing third.

July 16 - Third leg of Buckeye Stallion Series for 3-year-old trotters completed

The three-year-old trotting colts returned to Grassroots action Thursday, July 16 and all five winners matched or bettered their personal best efforts, in spite of competing over a rain soaked Woodbine Mohawk Park oval. AWESOMEDABRA (Hunterton born, raised and sold) wins at Woodbine Standardbred at Mohawk. Chris Christoforou was back in the winner’s circle after the fourth $23,150 division, guiding Awesomedabra to a 1:57.3 score for owner-trainer Gary Lance of Port Perry, ON. Pacesetter Crossfit Mouse finished one length behind the fan favourite and Mr Arch was well back in third.

July 15 - Third leg of Buckeye Stallion Series for 3-year-old trotters completed.

Muskingum (Hunterton born, raised and sold), by Triumphant Caviar out of Abbey Craig, was a winner in 1:57.2 for trainer-driver Sandy Beatty. The filly was eighth at the half but circled the field to get the victory by seven lengths. She is owned by Sandy Beatty along with Larry Riffe, William Johnson II and Ray Thacker Jr.

July 12 - Fulsome wins PASS 2 year old colts & geldings at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono in 1:52.2.

Fulsome's (Hunterton raised and sold) 1:52.2 victory was the fastest of five All-Stars splits on the card, with Yannick Gingras aboard for Burke. The Betting Line-Triple V Hanover colt moved to the lead in the second quarter and covered the final quarter in :27.3 to defeat Capt Jack Hanover by two lengths for William Donovan, Thomas Dillon, Purnel & Libby and Joe Sbrocco.

 

July 12 - Pettycoat Business - 1st at Tioga Downs in 1:52.1.

Pettycoat Business (Hunterton born, raised and sold) finished first in the NYSS 3 year old filly pace excelsior at Tioga Downs. July 11 - Odds On Pick Six wins OHSS 2 year old pacing colts at Scioto Downs

Odds On Pick Six (Hunterton raised and sold) captured the final OHSS for two-year-old pacing colts in a commanding 1:54.2 for driver Peter Wrenn and trainer Melanie Wrenn. The daughter of Racing Hill picked up his first career win for Odds On Racing as the 2-5 favourite, besting Home Team and 52-1 Rose Run Warner. Odds On Pick Six now has $57,500 in earnings. July 11 - Illicit Funds Rookie Royalty At The Meadowlands

High-priced yearlings with regal pedigrees were front and centre during the Saturday (July 11) Breakfast With the Babies qualifying session at The Meadowlands. Illicit Funds (Hunterton born, raised and sold) was a wire-to-wire in her first on-track appearance. There is some irony in seeing the full-sister to 2019 Canadian Horse of the Year and Hambletonian winner Forbidden Trade campaigned by the connections of Greenshoe, who was of course favoured to win and defeated by Forbidden Trade in the 2019 Hambletonian. July 11 - Tall Dark Stranger Strolls In ‘Pace’ Elim

Rushing to the lead past the quarter, 2-5 favourite Tall Dark Stranger (Hunterton born, raised and sold) fended off all challengers to take the lone $50,000 Meadowlands Pace elimination on Saturday (July 11). Over a damp track rated “good”, Tall Dark Stranger cleared command from Major Betts following a :26.1 first quarter. Capt Midnight, leaving from post 9, parked rounding the first turn and soon committed to grind uncovered towards the pacesetter. Papi Rob Hanover, away eighth early, angled off the pylons to catch Capt Midnight’s cover while Tall Dark Stranger rolled past a :54.4 half. July 4 - Hunterton born, raised and sold Hypnotic AM sparkles in Empire Breeders Classic at Vernon Downs

Vernon Downs played host to a July 4th spectacular on Saturday, featuring three Empire Breeders Classic races for sophomore trotters. Also on hand was two divisions of the New York Sire Stakes for freshman pacing fillies. These five races combined for more than half a million dollars in purse money.

March 7 - Evident Beauty Sold, Retired

Trot Insider has learned that 2019 O'Brien Award winning trotter Evident Beauty has been retired and will begin her broodmare career with a new part owner. A daughter of Trixton - Struck By Lindy, Evident Beauty was campaigned through her two- and three-year-old seasons by trainer Richard 'Nifty' Norman for owners Mel Hartman of Ottawa, Ont., Jeff Gural's Little E LLC of New York, N.Y. and Rob & Wayne Giles' R A W Equine Inc. of Burlington, Ont. She compiled a record of 13 - 6 - 4 from 27 lifetime starts with $890,866 in purses and a mark of 1:52.2 taken at the Meadowlands in her final career start. Now, Evident Beauty is residing in Kentucky with her new part owner, Steve Stewart of Hunterton Farm. Stewart told Trot Insider that the deal to obtain a piece of the four-year-old actually began at a yearling sale in October.

February 1 - Forbidden Trade - O'Brien Award winning Three-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the year!

There were no surprises in the Three-Year-Old Trotting Colt category as Hambletonian winner Forbidden Trade (Hunterton bred, raised, sold) took home the O’Brien, and was also recognized as Horse of the Year. The son of Kadabra, owned by Determination Stable, trained by Luc Blais and driven by Bob McClure, provided his connections with a season of thrills and memories last year, highlighted by his victory in the $1 million Hambletonian. He was a top Grand Circuit competitor, scoring eight victories and over $1 million in purse earnings. Some of his noteworthy wins included an elimination of the Goodtimes, three Ontario Sires Stakes Gold events and the Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final, his final win on the season.  But it was a Saturday afternoon on August 3 at The Meadowlands where his most coveted win came as Bob McClure guided him to a masterful victory in trotting’s Holy Grail in a lifetime best 1:51, providing his connections with one of their greatest career achievements.

October 13 - Haveoneforme wins OSS Super Final at Woodbine Standardbred At Mohawk

New Jersey-based driver Dexter Dunn made his first Super Final appearance on Saturday and guided three horses to victory.

In the three-year-old trotting filly showdown, which kicked off the event, Dunn teamed Kadabra filly Haveoneforme to a two-length victory in 1:55.4 for trainer Richard “Nifty” Norman, Norman’s Enzed Racing Stable Inc. of Allentown, NJ and partners Melvin Hartman of Ottawa, ON and Little E LLC of New York, NY.

October 12 - Forbidden Trade Trounces Foes

Hambletonian winner Forbidden Trade raced patiently through the mile and trotted past his competition in the stretch to take the Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Super Final for three-year-old trotting colts on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

 

Owned by Determination, Forbidden Trade won his eighth race from 13 starts this season—surpassing $1 million in earnings on the year—and his 15th from 24 overall, earning $1,371,627.

Hunterton Farm sells Forbidden Trade’s full sister Illicit Funds (Hip 56) in Harrisburg on November 4.

September 29 - American Mercury wins the Bluegrass Series #44 3YO Colts and Geldings at The Red Mile

Hunterton born, raised, sold, American Mercury motored off a pocket trip to a 1:49.3 victory in the second division of the Captaintreacherous. Driver Tyler Buter pushed for the front with American Mercury heading to the first turn but yielded command to Can’t Beach That after a :27 first quarter. American Mercury stayed in the pocket through a :55 half and three-quarters in 1:23.3 while Can’t Beach That endured far-turn pressure from De Los Cielos Deo. But De Los Cielos Deo faltered into the stretch, leaving room for American Mercury to slingshot from the pocket and to the lead through the stretch. He hit the finish two lengths better than Fabrice Hanover, who tracked De Los Cielos Deo’s cover for second, with Can’t Beach That finishing third. September 26 - Mohawk Park - Forbidden Trade Wins OSS Gold and is Leading OSS 3yo Colt Trotter

Hunterton born, raised, sold, and Hambletonian winner Forbidden Trade captures OSS Gold. Starting from Post 7 Forbidden Trade and driver Bob McClure powered away from the gate and took command just past the :27.1 quarter. Through a :56.2 and 1:25 three-quarters the duo were unchallenged and a sharp :27.2 final quarter sealed the deal. Forbidden Trade hit the wire one and three-quarter lengths ahead of early leader Manatlas in 1:52.2. McClure steers Forbidden Trade for trainer Luc Blais of Campbellville, ON and owner Determination of Montreal, QC. Prior to his Canadian Trotting Classic result Forbidden Trade had finished no worse than third and he now boasts a sophomore record of seven wins, three seconds and one third in 12 starts for earnings of $958,691.

Undefeated Tall Dark Stranger delivered the first Metro win for trainer Nancy Johansson and driver Yannick Gingras with a 1:49.1 stakes record in the $750,000 final Metro Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The son of Bettors Delight–Precocious Beauty angled from the two-hole and cruised home in :27,giving his driver Yannick Gingras and trainer Nancy Johansson each their first victory in harness racing's richest race for 2-year-olds. September 20 - Hunterton Bred, Raised and Sold - Sherry Lyns Lady wins

Favorite Sherry Lyns Lady and Tim Tetrick battled back to nose out Rock Swan, driven by his brother, Trace, to take the $215,000 Kentuckiana Stallion Management stake for freshman filly trotters in a time of 1:54.2. Crucial
(
also bred, raised and sold by Hunterton Farm) rounded out the trifecta. Trained by Jim Campbell for Coyote Wynd Farms, the victory was the second in nine outings for the Father Patrick 2 year old.

 

September 17 - Woodside Charm purchased by Hunterton group

Lexington, KY — World champion Woodside Charm 2,1:53f ($531,658), winner of the 2018 Breeders Crown for 2-year-old filly trotters, has been sold to Hunterton Farm’s Steve Stewart and partners. Bloodstock agent Ernie Martinez put together the sale.

September 15 - Hunterton Raise and Sold Bange Bi wins the KYSS consolation 2 YO Fillies at The Red MIle

Bange Bi, trained by Trent Stohler, sat third to the quarter as Jasmine Volo and Shape Shifter battled through a :28.4 opening panel. Gingras then brushed the Manofmanymissions filly to the top and withstood a first-over bid from 3-2 favorite Heaven after a :57.3 half and through three-quarters in 1:27.2.

September 14 - Hypnotic Am wins New York Sire Stakes finals division during the Night of Champions at Batavia Downs

Two stake and three track records were rewritten during the night led by two-year-old trotting Hunterton born, raised and sold filly  Hypnotic AM (Chapter Seven-Daydream AM S) who remained undefeated in 2019 and now sporting a seven-race winning streak.

 

Hypnotic AM (Brian Sears) tucked in second for just a moment before coming back out and taking the lead by the quarter in a soft :29. She was just cruising on the lead past the half and to three-quarters while Sevntimesalady (Ake Svanstedt) moved into position behind her and tried to keep up around the turn for a stretch run. In the lane Hypnotic AM was trotting up a storm and had no intentions of letting anyone get near her. Sears sat chilly with the whip on his shoulder while Hypnotic AM pulled away to an easy three-length victory in 1:57.1. The Somebeachsomewhere-Beyonce Blue Chip colt raced third as Roll With Jr ripped to the front before a :26.3 first quarter. Pocket-sitter Its Showtime went off stride approaching the backstretch, giving the pocket to Moneyman Hill as the odds-on favorite stalked the pacesetter through a :54.4 half and through three-quarters in 1:24.1. Forbidden Trade, Canada’s champion 2-year-old showed the heart of a warrior to hold off 3-10 favorite Greenshoe by neck in a dramatic fight to the finish in the $1 million final on Saturday (Aug. 3).

July 19 - Hunterton born, raised and sold, American Mercury wins at Vernon Downs in 1:49.4.

Trainer Chris Oakes swept both divisions of the NYSS as American Mercury (Tyler Buter) won the $59,800 second division. American Mercury ($2.90) took the lead just before hitting the first quarter. He controlled all the fractions (:26.4, :56.0, 1:23.3, 1:49.4). He is owned by Crawford Farms Racing, Northfork Racing Stable, Chris Pompey, and Scott Bice. Second Place finisher World On Edge (Matt Kakaley) tried to make a run in the stretch but never got close to American Mercury.

 

American Mercury is a 3-year-old gelding by American Ideal. He is five of his seven starts this season. He now has seven career victories but none faster than tonight’s 1:49.4.

 

July 19 - Burke, Gingras win three sire stakes at Harrah’s Philly Friday.

Trainer Ron Burke and driver Yannick Gingras victory was with the debutante Hunterton born, raised and sold, Crucial (Father Patrick-Jolene Jolene), who also raced on the lead, then was extended through the stretch by Word Of Honor. The latter popped out of the pocket at head stretch and fought hard only to miss by a nose, though Crucial was only under mild encouragement. On Sunday evening (July 7), the trainer gave a gracious acceptance speech at her induction into the Harness Racing Hall of Fame in Goshen, N.Y., and on Saturday night (July 13), she stood in the winner’s circle after Best In Show pulled a 27-1 upset in the $682,650 Crawford Farms Meadowlands Pace.

June 24 - Forbidden Trade takes OSS Gold

In the first $107,200 division driver Bob McClure eased favourite Forbidden Trade away from Post 1 and was content to watch from seventh as Cool Clifford and Dream Nation battled to a :27.1 opening quarter. The favourites were still sitting seventh when Dream Nation hit the half in :56.3 and, although in the outer lane, they remained in seventh as the pacesetter reached the three-quarters in 1:25.

Hunterton raised Trotting colts got underway in the seventh race at the Meadowlands where the camera could not separate a closing Hellbent For AM (Sears) and mile cutter Legion Of Honor (Andy McCarthy) as they crossed the wire, resulting in a dead heat in 1:56 / :27.3. Driver Eric Carlson had another Stallion Series winner, this one part of a series training triple for Tony Alagna, Hunterton born, raised and sold, Odds On Boca Raton - CAPTAINTREACHEROUS - CAPTIVA ISLAND P, 3, 1:51.1F  ($65,082), who is now perfect in two Stallion Series starts after a 1:52.1 victory. Odds On Boca Raton went right to the top and discouraged all other challengers, finishing a length to the good of Stienams Beach for Odds On Racing.

 

May 26 2019 - Leg 2 of NJSS completed at The Meadowlands

Hunterton  raised, Mollydooker - GREAT VINTAGE - Fox VALLEY ZENA p, 2, 1:54.0M ($109,750) came out on top for driver Andrew McCarthy and trainer Tony Alagna.  Mollydooker, daughter of Great Vintage, nosed out the competition in 1:57 with the last quarter in 29.4.  Love Love Me Too was a close second with Hurrikanesky coming in third. Mollydooker is owned by Visionary Breeders LLC and has earned $69,750 for them, lifetime.

 

May 26 2019 - American Mercury wins a division of the NYSS at Saratoga Casino Hotel

There were three divisions of over $58,000 in stakes competition and trainer Chris Oakes and driver Tyler Buter stole the show. Buter won four consecutive races at one point on the card including three for Oakes. The United States Harness Writers announced the winners of the Breeder of the Year and Top Broodmares of the Year.
Southwind Serena, a Varenne mare owned by Steve Stewart, Black Creek Farm, and Andrea Lea Racing Stables Inc., was recognized because of the exploits of trotter Tactical Landing.
